Astral websites was officially born in 2005 but like the Queen it has two birthdays. It all started when Alan, the owner, was 15. He saved £5 a week religiously for 6 months to buy a ZX Spectrum computer. This led him to a varied career in computing: systems analyst, database engineer, support technician, website designer, programmer and I.T. manager to name a few job roles. It also allowed him to work in Edinburgh, Sydney, London and Paris for firms like IBM, Simmons & Simmons, Salans Hertzfeld & Heilbronn
